Novena Liturgies in Honour of St. Gianna
On Tuesday evenings, within the context of our 7:00 p.m. liturgy, St. Gianna’s Church celebrates a weekly Novena Mass in honour of our parish patroness. The Tuesday evening liturgies include a homily that emphasizes an aspect of St. Gianna’s own discipleship, intercessions for the various needs of those participating in the Novena, and the official prayer of St. Gianna. All are welcome!
Saint Gianna Beretta Molla has been identified as truly a saint for our time. A contemporary woman, wife, mother and doctor, she embodies for all of us an example of Christian discipleship that is inspirational and relevant. Many people across the world turn to St. Gianna each day, asking her for guidance, encouragement and special intercession as they face the challenges of life.
The life of St. Gianna speaks to various situations of our living. In particular, she is turned to in moments concerning fertility challenges, pregnancy worries, birthing concerns, as well as in times of extreme illness and palliative care.
Participation in the Novena will be made complete by visiting the Shrine at the conclusion of the liturgy to light a candle and reverence the first class relic of St. Gianna, that will be displayed for the Tuesday Novena liturgies only.
It is our catholic belief that those who participate with a full expression of faith in a Novena liturgy for nine consecutive times will have their prayers and petitions answered by God in the way that God sees fit.
