Memorial Wall for the Unborn
Commemorating the Briefest Lives – Each year in North America, approximately one million parents lose a child through miscarriage or still birth. In many cases, there is no burial or special place where the child is remembered, and the families are left to deal with a grief that is often misunderstood and disenfranchised in our society.
Our Jubilee Year of Mercy calls us to participate in the corporal and spiritual works of mercy to ‘bury the dead’ and ‘pray for the living and the dead’. Inspired by our beloved patroness, St. Gianna Beretta Molla, patron saint of the unborn, Living Waters Columbarium unveils a memorial to all children who have died before birth.
The memorial enables families who have lost a child through miscarriage, stillbirth or abortion to name their child and have his or her name engraved on our memorial wall.
This special opportunity is open to all families who have ever experienced the pain of losing an unborn child, as well as to those who wish to dedicate a memorial for relatives or friends having experienced such a loss.
The memorial wall was unveiled on May 1, 2016, the Feast of St. Gianna. Moving forward, the names of the unborn will be read and celebrated each year on the Feast of Holy Innocents.
Memorial inscriptions are $1200. Each inscription bears the first and last name of the child, or ‘Baby’ and last name, along with the date of birth∕death. The memorial wall is limited to 42 inscriptions, and we will be accepting orders on an ongoing basis. The names will be added as the orders are received.
